Why is the picture above significant? Because it's the first sunrise I've seen in Denmark. Since I arrived on Oct. 29th.
There is almost always a thick blanket of clouds in the morning (well, not just morning, all the time). Hidden by buildings, the sun rises far to the south, and hadn't been appearing by 9AM up until recently (Copenhagen is further north than Ketchikan, Alaska).
The sun has actually been appearing relatively frequently, lately. On average, 2 out of 7 days rather than the 1 out of 7 days during Nov/Dec/Jan. Twice as much sun. As I mentioned when I arrived in "sunny" Germany, you don't realize how much you miss the sun and it's impacts on your mood until it appears and you can't help but feel cheery.
Posts soon to come on London, Danish Halloween, and Danish peculiarities.
